How to Clean Green
Cleaning products are a part of our lives and they are everywhere in our environment whether it is the home, office or even the vehicle we drive/ride to travel.  In recent years there have been certain outbreaks of diseases that has caused us to react by disinfecting and cleaning our everyday items more frequently.  As we wage this battle on germs and disease we may often actually be making things worse.  The conventional cleaning products that we were raised with contain petroleum-based chemicals that are often very hazardous to the environment and even our health.  Ever gotten a whiff of a shower cleaner while you were scrubbing away?  Yep, those are likely hazardous fumes entering your system.

HowtoCleanGreen.net will be an informative site showing the various products that are available at similar costs to the harsh chemicals most people are currently using.  Most cleaning products expose our families to harsh chemicals despite claims the concentrations are not strong enough to harm us; and, today’s technologies has evolved to the point that there are plenty of cost-effective environmentally friendly green cleaning products readily available in the market today.  I’ll be discussing some of these products on my site.

Green Cleaning – Getting Started
As the short-term and long-term environmental and health impacts of conventional cleaning products become more thoroughly understood, more and more types of green and effective cleaning products have started hitting our marketplace and each are competing for that coveted place under your sink.  Many of these products are non-toxic-biodegradable and made from renewable resources.  In case  you are wondering, petroleum-based cleaners are not considered renewable.  More and more of these cleaners are being invented utilizing vinegar and baking soda which can be used around the home to clean just about anything.  You’ll learn more about this as you learn how to clean green.  Also, you can visit my store anytime by clicking here.

Another aspect to keep in mind when you are selecting a detergent or cleaner is the container that it has been delivered in.  Was it made of recycled materials?  Finally, and this is for those of you who are truly committed to doing everything you can for the environment, do a little research on the company that produces the green cleaning products you are using.  You’d be very surprised to find out that many of these organizations have exemplary records as it pertains to environmental compliance and green initiatives.  The ones who don’t usually pop up very quickly on Google.  I’ve done most of the research here, but feel free to do more research on your own.  This is still a relatively new field that will constantly be evolving.

Green Cleaning Products
This section will have the various types of products that will be discussed.  There are three main brands that I have picked to represent because of their overwhelming commitment to the environment.  But, there are certainly more expensive cleaners out there that I did not select.  Let’s be reasonable.  We live in a world of capitalism where the almighty dollar reigns supreme.  Although we do sometimes spend an extra dollar here and there on luxuries we deserve, it would be foolish to think that anyone would spend as much as 12x more on their cleaning products than they do now.  That being said, I’ve researched the best prices and I’ve listed them in my store.  You can choose to go straight to Amazon.com, but the pricing on howtocleangreen.net is identical to what they have listed there.

If you decide to take a crack at becoming environmentally conscious as it pertains to green home cleaning, you’re going to need a plan.  First off, you can select each product you want to use individually or you can get this inexpensive kit that contains a basic package of eco-friendly cleaning products.  It’s cheap and convenient and usually sitting at my door in a few days.  Again, the prices listed in the store are updated daily to ensure the lowest possible price.  As you learn how to clean green you’ll be able to decipher some bulk deals that will certainly save you over the long-term.  I barely use the window cleaner (which works rather well) so I just give those to friends or family as I accumulate them.

How to Clean Green – Disposing of Toxic Chemicals
Once upon a time, it was quite okay to take any cleaner or chemical you weren’t using and toss it straight into the trash.  Maybe you’ve heard some of your wise elders explain how they would simply pour certain items down a drain.  Unfortunately, they simply did not know the harm this would pose for our environment.  Even when your water is sent to the POTW for treatment, there are still a myriad of unsafe chemicals that are used to treat the nasty waste waters that we produce every single day.

If you decide to take a crack at becoming environmentally conscious as it pertains to the cleaning chemicals you use around your house, you’re going to need to find a place to dispose of those old hazardous cleaners that you are not going to be using any longer.  Learning how to clean green is more than just using different chemicals, it also takes a commitment to dispose of the existing toxic chemicals in a responsible manner.  Contact your city to find out where you can bring household hazardous wastes.  You’d be surprised with the numerous resources they possess; and, they’ll be able to take almost all of them at no charge to a residential citizen.
